About Us
I am Ryan Nelson, owner of The Handyman of Kalamazoo, LLC. I was born and raised in southwest Michigan on a small hobby farm where I starting learning at a young age how to work with my hands and tools while “helping” my father. We built a lot together, starting with smaller crafts like bird houses and eventually bigger builds, like his current large storage barn that he keeps various tractors, equipment, and animal feed.
Fast-forward to my high school years when I spent my summers helping home owners with remodeling projects on their Victorian homes on Lake Michigan and running a lawn care business. A few years later, I attended Ferris State University studying business and entrepreneurship and worked part time on their grounds maintenance team. FSU is also where I met my wife. We have been married for 13 years and have four wonderful, energetic children.
We settled our roots in Portage where our children go to school and we attend church. I am blessed to be living in the Kalamazoo area. The Handyman of Kalamazoo was created with a vision of providing efficient, honest, and trustworthy services to the local communities. I look forward to meeting you and helping you with the repairs you need. All it takes is one call because we do it all!
